Meet Dr. Jona Taber
Dr. Jona Taber brings a unique blend of compassion, advanced training, and personal experience to every pet she cares for. A graduate of Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine, she has devoted her career to helping pets live more comfortable, active lives—especially through the power of rehabilitation and acupuncture.
Her journey into animal rehab began while training for half-marathons. After sustaining running injuries and undergoing physical therapy herself, Dr. Taber became deeply interested in how similar therapies could support animals. Today, she’s a Certified Veterinary Acupuncture Therapist (CVAT) through the Canine Rehabilitation Institute and is in the final stages of becoming a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner (CCRP) through the University of Tennessee.
Dr. Taber is committed to continuing education and is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Veterinary Medical Association, Feline Medical Veterinary Association, Minnesota Veterinary Medical Association, American Academy of Veterinary Acupuncture, American Association of Rehabilitation Veterinarians, and the International Veterinary Academy of Pain Management. She is also certified in Fear Free handling and RECOVER CPR techniques.
Originally from Kentucky, Dr. Taber earned her undergraduate degree at Murray State University, where she met her husband, Kevin. Together, they now live a busy, joy-filled life with their daughter Amelia and two dogs: Chloe, an energetic and outgoing goldendoodle, and Daisy Kate, a sweet, mischievous beagle.
When she’s not working with pets, Dr. Taber enjoys running, gardening, downhill skiing, traveling, and baking treats for her family and friends. She founded Balanced Paws to help dogs and cats manage pain, improve mobility, and regain strength—so they can enjoy their lives to the fullest, just as nature intended.
